The award-winning North Shore Choir is comprised of over 400 members.

North Shore Choir

The North Shore High School choral department is a socially active, ethnically diverse group on a 6A campus in a small community outside of Houston, TX.

The choir department consists of 13 performing groups that meet over 10 periods throughout the school day.
We also offer two levels of Music Theory for those interested in collegiate study of music in the future.

Members of the choral department are involved in many other organizations, including Band, National Honor Society, Scarlets (drill team), Cheerleaders, Varsity sports, French Club, Thespians, and more!

Enrique Collazo
Head Choir Director

Enrique Collazo is in his thirty-fourth year of teaching, all in Galena Park ISD. He is a two-year member of the Texas All-State Choir (1980 & 1981) Jefferson High School, San Antonio, under the direction of Irma Taute, He attended Texas State University where he was a member of the Chorale under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Fulton. He attended Sam Houston State University where he earned his Koday Certification level 1 & 2 under Dr. Alan Strong. Mr. Collazo taught four years at Jacinto City Elementary School where his JCE Honor Choir performed at the 1991 TMEA Convention. Mr. Collazo was named Teacher Of The Year for Jacinto City Elementary School in 1991. He then taught nine years at North Shore Middle School building one of the largest middle school programs in Texas. For the past 20 years Mr. Collazo has been the lead choral director at North Shore Senior HS. The Varsity Chorale Men performed at the 2019 Texas Music Educator’s Association Convention and Clinic under his direction. Mr. Collazo is a member of TCDA, TMAA and TMEA and served as Region 33 Vocal Division Vice Chair 2017-2018 and Vocal Division Chair 2019-2020. His groups have consistently earned sweepstakes trophies at the Choir UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. His Men's group was named Grand Champion at the Festival Di Voce Competition at HBU in 2018. His Varsity Chorale has performed for the Texas Superintendents Association in Dallas and with the Houston Symphony's Christmas Family Concert Series.​

Adam Bendorf
Assistant Choir Director

 Mr. Bendorf is excited to begin his 17th year of teaching, all of which have been at North Shore Senior HS. He is a 2004  Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Texas where he earned his degree in music with a concentration in voice. Choirs under his direction have consistently earned Sweepstakes at our annual UIL Concert and Sight Reading Evaluation for over a decade. Over the past 16 years of teaching AP Music Theory, his passing rate has never dropped below 85%. 

Mr. Bendorf has been happily married for the last 13 years to his wife, Laura. They have a beautiful three year old son, Jack. Mr. Bendorf's hobbies include video games, movies, and television. His wife taught him to crochet 17 years ago and thus his love of crafts began. He crochets, cross stitches, and has recently gotten involved in diamond painting (look it up).

Ryan Rogers

Assistant Choir Director

Mr. Rogers graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston Moores School of Music in May 2018, majoring in Piano Performance and Choral Music Education, where he served as Director of Floreat, Student Director, and Tenor Section Leader under Drs. Betsy Cook Weber and Jeb Mueller. He is elated to return to North Shore High School for the 2020-2021 school year, where he directs seven choirs, including the North Shore Senior High Chamber Choir and the show choir, Perfect Harmony.

Outside of school, Mr. Rogers appears as a conductor, singer, and pianist with ensembles throughout Texas, such as Bach Society Houston, the San Antonio Chamber Choir, and Operativo Houston. In his free time, he enjoys running, singing with friends, arranging, and recording his own compositions.
